National School of Character
Trautwein has been named a Missouri and National School of Character!
Trautwein focuses a great deal of energy on character education. Our
purpose is to support our families in their effort to help the children
develop strong positive character traits. Each Monday Trautwein students
participate in Character Events such as School Community Assemblies,
Buddies, and School Community Lessons. The State Schools of
Character program recognizes schools for embedding the CEP’s Eleven
Principles of Effective Character Education into their daily practices.

Building and Facilities
Trautwein School's original building opened in 1964. The next year an
addition was added that doubled the size of the school. The entire
building houses thirty classrooms including an art, music and computer
room, plus a library, gymnasium, cafeteria, office and conference room.
During the summer of 2002, Proposition P funds were used to update all
of Trautwein's HVAC systems, allowing the building to be fully climate
controlled. The computer lab was also updated adding thirty student
workstations. Computers were installed in each classroom in the
building. All of these computers are networked district-wide and are
capable of accessing the Internet. Thanks to Prop R, the district to hired 11 interventionsist. Mrs. Higgins will be serving as the Trautwein Interventionist. Mrs. Higgins will push into each K-2 classroom to help with reading instruction. She will work with all students in those grades.
